Due to the threat of rain on Saturday, Destination Downtown Mebane has been forced to make a few changes to its schedule for Saturday’s Hometown Holidays event. Specifically, all outdoor events for Hometown Holidays have been cancelled. However, all indoor events and activities are still on.

Some of the events that are still scheduled to take place on Saturday as part of Hometown Holidays is story telling at Trackside Bottle Shop, writing letters to Santa at Solgarden, ornament making at Impulsive Creativity and Coldwell Banker, Santa Claus at Action Travel, cookies at Eclection Emporium, cookie decorating at DoTerra, and elves at each of the various indoor locations.

Events that have been cancelled due to the weather includes the Market Square and Christmas Village. All outdoor vendors have been cancelled. In addition, the Carriage Rides have been cancelled this year. There is still a possibility that some food trucks could be onsite, but that has not been yet determined.

Event organizers are looking to postpone the annual Tree Lighting in the Mebane Veteran’s Garden until Saturday, November 30.

“There is a 90 percent chance of rain all day and in order to protect our craft vendors and their products, it made sense to cancel (all outdoor activities),” Destination Downtown Mebane said in announcing this year’s Hometown Holidays changes. “The gravel lot would be a mud pit by the time they started setting up and unfortunately, the turn out of shoppers would be very low. It's with a very heavy heart, because so much work has gone into this.”
