Jennifer Knight (far right), who works in Animal Control. Turner recently donated a significant amount of food and other items to the Alamance County Animal Shelter.

Mark Turner, owner of Mebane Tractor Co. and Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson, recently met to discuss Mr. Turner’s desire to donate dog food and livestock feed to Sheriff’s Office Animal Control Division.

Sheriff Johnson and Mr. Turner, both animal lovers, agreed that the donation should go to Burlington Animal Services which operates the Animal Shelter/Pet Adoption Center.

Sheriff Johnson met with Burlington Animal Service Director Jessica Arias who gladly accepted the donation.

The delivery consisted of 5,300 pounds of dog and cat food, include livestock feed, with a value of approximately $3,700. Delivery was made Thursday afternoon, June 6th during a heavy rain.

Animal Services Director Jessica Arias said, “This is an incredibly generous donation. Three thousand pounds of food can last us a month. A donation of this size is huge for us.”

Mark Turner said, “We have made the decision to stop selling dog and cat food and livestock feed. As an animal lover, I wanted to make a donation so I thought of the Sheriff’s Office Animal Control. Sheriff Johnson suggested the Animal Shelter.”

“I want these animals to have the best they can have and Mark Turner at Mebane Tractor Company came through with his donation.” Sheriff Johnson said.
