Destination Downtown Mebane is looking forward to hosting its annual Autumn Fest celebration this Saturday - October 5th - from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..

According to event organizers, over 50 craft vendors will be set up on Clay Street selling their handmade crafts. Vendors will feature quilts, jewelry, soap, candles, art, photography, dog beds, monogrammed items, edible plants, barn quilts, oils, clothes and much more.

“We have worked really hard to make sure that all of the vendors are making homemade or handmade items,” said Sherri Seagroves, President of Carolina Plastics Recruiters and one of the Destination Downtown organizers of the event. “We have dog beds that are made by a dentist in Hillsborough - this is his very first craft show. We have soaps, stained glass art, monograms, plants, wreaths, barn quilts, basic quilts, candles. The service vendors are members of Destination Downtown, Inc..”

A beer garden will be open from 12:00 p.m. noon to 5:00 p.m. (ID required, no exceptions) featuring a variety of beers from local breweries, including Haw River Farmhouse Ales, Bombshell Beer Company, and Bright Penny Brewing. The beer garden will be set up in the gravel parking lot at the corner of Clay and Third Streets.

In addition, the Mebane Farmer’s Market will be open for its final weekend of the year. Instead of its normal location at the corner of Third and Clay Streets, the Farmer’s Market will be situated on Third Street, starting at 7:00 a.m..

“The Farmer’s Market will be set up on Third Street - not in the parking lot on the corner of Third and Clay. That’s where the beer garden is,” Seagroves explained. “The Farmer’s Market is on the street. The street will be blocked off at 6:00 a.m.. There’s plenty of parking behind Dollar General, and on Ruffin Street.”

Along with lots of vendors, guests at Autumn Fest will have numerous food options, including Baconessence Food Truck, Home Run Hot Dogs, Meal Smith, Pelicans Sno Balls, and That’s a Wrap.

There will be several opportunities to watch and listen to live music, with Generation Gap taking the stage from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., The Gravy Boats playing from 12:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., and Old Man Noize playing a pair of sets - one from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m., and another from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m..

The Kid’s Zone will be located on Fourth Street and feature face painting, bowling courtesy of Buffaloe Lanes, martial arts courtesy of Champions Martial Arts, creepy critters from Wild Tails North Carolina, along with kid-related crafts.

In addition, guests are invited to shop with Mebane’s many retailers while they are downtown and enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants that will be open.

Destination Downtown Mebane, Inc, an organization comprised of 37 business owners located in historic downtown Mebane, wishes to thank Farm Bureau Insurance and the City of Mebane for their partnership in preparing for this year’s Autumn Fest. Farm Bureau provided access to their property for festival use, for which Destination Downtown wishes to express their gratitude.
