Feeley to seek re-election to ABSS School Board next year

Brian Feeley, Vice Chair of the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) Board of Education, announced he will seek re-election in 2020. Feeley, a 2003 graduate of Elon University, was first elected to the ABSS Board in 2016.

Brian Feeley, Vice Chair of the Alamance-Burlington School System (ABSS) Board of Education, announced he will seek re-election in 2020.

Feeley said, “Whether prioritizing ways to attract and empower quality educators, advocating for the historic education bonds passed by our community, hiring district leaders, overseeing tax-payer funds in ways that build trust and confidence, keeping the safety of our students paramount, or championing partnerships that leverage the extraordinary nonprofit, public, private and faith-based organizations in Alamance County, I’ve worked hard to encourage long-term planning while finding solutions to the most pressing issues facing our public school system.

ABSS is at an inflection point. Despite significant and persistent challenges, ABSS has experienced important improvements in recent years; however, that progress is fragile and cannot be taken for granted. We need collaborative and forward-thinking leaders on the school board for progress to march on. I hope I have done enough to earn the privilege to again serve the citizens of Alamance County in that manner.

I’m absolutely convinced the pieces – leadership, county growth, community support - are in place for the school system to become the finest in the state. It will be extremely hard; it will take time; and it will require us to be innovative and student-centered at all levels, but the opportunity is there.

I’m grateful for the many colleagues, neighbors, family, friends and community members who encouraged me to run for re-election. Above all, I could not serve well without the unwavering support and selflessness of my family. They sustain and inspire me.

I have a deeply held belief that The American Dream is most nourished inside public schools. In 2020, I’ll be asking the citizens of Alamance County to join me in reaffirming a commitment to ignite the dreams within every child and every family in our community.”
