City of Mebane declares emergency in response to COVID-19

Mayor Ed Hooks declared an official state of emergency on Friday, March 13 for the City of Mebane. The declaration may include a variety of restrictions and/or prohibitions if needed as the COVID-19 outbreak continues to evolve. The declaration makes the city eligible for federal and state emergency funds if they become available to help cope with the outbreak and its potential impacts on Mebane. The declaration also authorizes the City to apply for financial assistance, if needed, through state or federal agencies. Depending on the severity of the crisis, the Council can implement curfews.
