Local man charged with four misdemeanors, one felony in assault

Urais Samuel Singletary (pictured above) has been charged with numerous counts including Felony Assault by Strangulation, Misdemeanor Assault on a Female, Misdemeanor Simple Assault, Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property, and Misdemeanor Resist, Delay, and Obstruct. Singletary allegedly attacked his mother and grandfather in an incident at the victim's property February 5. 

On the evening of Wednesday, February 5, at 11:00 p.m., Alamance County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a family disturbance on Johnson Rd. in northern Alamance County.

On arrival, Deputies found two victims with injuries. A female victim had injuries consistent with being strangled. The two victims identified their attacker as Urias Samuel Singletary, who is the female victim’s son, and the other victim’s grandson. 

Mr. Singletary was located on the victim’s property where he was arrested and transported the Alamance County Detention Center
