Students arrested in Mebane weekend B&E case

Four local students - Duncan Edward Grant of Hillsborough (left), Leif Thorson Mahaney of Hillsborough (second from left), Alexis Rose Shigapov of Graham (second from right), and Kobe Thompson of Mebane (right) were charged with one count each of Felony Breaking and Entering in relation to an incident in the early morning hours of Sunday, September 29, in which the four suspects and a fifth juvenile suspect were found on a property in the 5000 block of Harvest View Drive in Mebane. The four above suspects, who will be tried as adults in the case, received a $30,000 bond. 

On Sunday morning September 29, at approximately 3:52 a.m., Alamance County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call of Breaking and Entering in the 5000 block of Harvest View Drive in Mebane. 

The homeowner was awakened to multiple voices from inside the residence, and detained three suspects who he caught inside of his residence. 

It was discovered that two suspects had left in a vehicle prior to Deputies arriving on scene. The suspects arrived back on scene and were arrested.

Four of the suspects are 17-year-old Duncan Edward Grant of 209 Churton Grove Blvd. in Hillsborough, 16-year-old Leif Thorson Mahaney of 301 Woodline Drive in Hillsborough, 16-year-old Alexis Rose Shigapov of 1922 Greenridge Court in Graham, and 16-year-old Kobe Isiah Thompson of 300 Grove Hall Lane in Mebane. All four have been charged with one count of Felony Breaking and Entering, and received a $30,000 bond. 

A fifth suspect is a juvenile and was released to a parent, pending juvenile petition. Since the other four suspects are at least 16 years of age, they are being charged as adults.
