In December of 2018, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office received a Sexual Abuse report from the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office in Spring Hills, Florida. The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office had an open investigation regarding Child Abuse involving the suspect and a 12 year old child. The child disclosed sexual abuse as well as physical abuse during their investigation. It was determined that the sexual abuse occurred in Alamance County, NC. The report stated that the child had been sexually assaulted multiple times over an extended period of time while in the care of the suspect when they lived in Alamance County, NC. During their investigation, the child was brought to North Carolina, while the suspect remained in Florida.
Once the report was received, the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Social Services conducted a joint investigation. Multiple interviews and follow-ups were conducted by investigators.
After a lengthy investigation, there was probable cause found and warrants were obtained for Robert King’s arrest. Robert King was charged with four counts of First Degree Sex Offense of a Child-Felony and Indecent Liberties with a Child–Felony.
On Monday, August 12, 2019, King was arrested when he came to Graham, NC, to inquire about a civil proceeding and served with the warrants at the Alamance County Jail. King was placed under a $500,000.00 secured bond. King’s first appearance is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at 2:00 PM.
