Carrboro man arrested, charged in freeway stop

A 44 year-old Carrboro man, Anthony Tyrone Swann, was arrested by the Alamance County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, September 4 and charged with a total of five drug offense counts following a traffic stop along I-40 East/I-85 North. Swann was charted with felony possession with intent to distribute marijuana, felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and one count of felony maintaining vehicle for keeping and selling a controlled substance.

On Wednesday September 4, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Alamance County Sheriff's Office Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a blue 2015 Chrysler 200 for a traffic violation. The stop took place on I-40 East/I-85 North near Mebane. 

A K9 was present during the stop and gave a positive indication of contraband. A search of the vehicle was conducted. Deputies discovered .59 grams Cocaine, 19.67 grams Marijuana, digital scales and numerous paraphernalia items.

The driver of the vehicle, Mr. Anthony Swann, was arrested and taken before magistrate Thorpe and given a $3000.00 bond.
