Condolences are being shared with the family of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Corbett as they prepare for her homegoing services which are scheduled for Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 2:00pm from the sanctuary of Kimes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.   On Friday evening a viewing will be held at the church from 6:00pm until 8:00pm as well as on Saturday from 1:30pm until 2:00pm. On Friday evening at 7:15 a brief life celebration service will be held.  Public viewing at the funeral home will be from 12 Noon until 3:00pm Due to Coronavirus restrictions, masks will be required for the viewing and services. For the viewing at the church, viewing and only greeting the family, by means of nod or wave. In honoring Mrs. Mary Elizabeth's life, it is vital that we keep everyone safe and healthy.  She will be laid to rest following the services in the White Oak Cemetery.  

Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Corbett was born to Preston Chaplin and Martha Waddy Chaplin on October 6, 1932 in Chester, South Carolina. She was employed with 1st Union Bank (Wells-Fargo) and held a vibrant career, which spanned over 30 years.  Mary Elizabeth was the devoted and loving wife of Benjamin Franklin Corbett, better known as "Ben". 

Mother Mary Elizabeth Corbett was a faithful and dedicated member of Kimes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.  She offered her wise spiritual counsel to many organizations and departments of the church.  Mary Elizabeth was known as the "Christmas Queen of Mebane".  She shared her home with countless visitors who were in awe of her beautifully decorated home.  

In her own fashion and in her own unique way, Mary Elizabeth Chaplin Corbett, our Matriarch, Queen and dear friend, exchanged time for eternity on June 21, 2020. 

Remembering her love and emulating her legacy are her children: Dr. Donna E. Corbett and Ronald F. Corbett (Sonia); sister: Ava Mebane (Carlton); two grandchildren: Jenna Corbett and Justin Corbett; sisters and brothers in-law: uncle Jack D. Waddy as well as several loving nieces and nephews; faithful friends of West St., other relatives and dear and devoted friends.

     In addition to her husband and parents, she now joins her siblings: James Chaplin, Mary Jane Chaplin, Pauline Chaplin, Preston Harold Chaplin, Patricia Chaplin Poole and Jimmy Lee Chaplin.
