Rock Hill, SC - Stephanie Elizabeth (Roessler) Kimble, age 38, of Rock Hill, SC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 20, 2019 at the Wayne T Patrick Hospice House after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a loving wife, an amazing mom and a faithful follower of Christ!
Stephanie was born March 20, 1981, in Burlington, NC, the daughter of Richard Carl and Elizabeth Lynn (Beth) Roessler. She grew up in Mebane, NC, attending Eastern Alamance High School. Stephanie was a volleyball fanatic! In high school she was All-Conference and team captain during both her junior and senior years. In 2008, Stephanie met and married Michael Edward Kimble of Rock Hill, SC, formerly of Winnsboro, SC. A few years later, after much prayer, she enrolled at Liberty University obtaining a B.A. in Biblical Studies, as well as an M.A. in Theology. Afterwards she was accepted at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary pursuing an M.A. in Old Testament Studies and Christian Thought. With the clarity of an end goal of a Ph.D., she paused at Gordon Conwell and earned a M.A. in Education from Columbia International University (CIU). Upon completion she was accepted into the Ph.D. program in Education at CIU. During this time an ovarian tumor was found in October 2017, and the battle began.
As much as Stephanie loved learning, she loved her son even more! Michael and Stephanie began pursuing adoption at the end of 2014. Arriving just minutes after his birth late one night in February 2015, Stephanie became ‘Ma’ to Elias Jaden Kimble. She loved being a mom and had so much fun with her little ‘Honey Bun’! The next two years were spent balancing being a student, a teacher, a wife and a mom. After the diagnosis in 2017, her time with Elias became more special, if that’s even possible. This time included visits with family, trips to the beach, the mountains, and Disney World. When she should have been resting and taking it easy, she was pushing through to have every moment possible with family and friends.
Stephanie was a teacher at Providence Classical school in Rock Hill. She loved the students and was devoted to making a difference in their lives. Her commitment to hard work, her love for Christ, and her genuine concern for others not only afforded her the opportunity to impact Providence but gave her the desire to become co-founder of the Winthrop University chapter of Ratio Christi, a campus organization devoted to Christian apologetics and evangelism. Aside from work and studies, Stephanie loved gardening, especially taking care of her hybrid tea roses, hiking, ‘Taco Tuesdays’ and just relaxing with a good book and coffee. She always had a special pup around, Oliver, her most beloved, and running a close second and third, Maela and Maxwell.
In addition to her husband, Michael and her son, Elias, Stephanie is survived by her parents, Richard and Beth Roessler, her maternal grandmother, Loyce (Mo) Lesley, brother, Scott Roessler, wife Christy (children Cameron, Ben, Kaleb and Charlotte Grace); her sister Leslie Kernodle, husband Clark (children Aiden, Kiya, Emmy and Lana); William (Bill) Kimble Jr., father-in-law and Carless A. Kimble, mother-in-law as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Psalm 100 proclaims, “Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth! Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into His presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise! Give thanks to Him; bless His name! For the Lord is good; His steadfast love endures forever, and His faithfulness to all generations.”
Stephanie lived the life of Psalm 100. Her life was poured out as an offering to her Lord, she served Him with gladness, worshiped Him wholeheartedly, reverenced His Lordship, lived in thankfulness of who He is and fully relied on His unwavering love and abundant grace! This devotion to Christ allowed her to make an everlasting impact for the Kingdom of God and for the name of Jesus. She was loved dearly and will be missed greatly!
