Eastern Alamance returns to top of Mid-State in golf

The Eastern Alamance golf team finished 112 strokes ahead of second place Western Alamance to win the Mid-State Conference championship Tuesday, April 9. The Eagles finished the regular season with four of the top five individual golfers in the league standings. Pictured (left to right) is Coach J.T. On Tuesday, April 9, the Eastern Alamance men's golf team won the Mid-State Conference tournament championship at Greensboro National’s 18-hole tournament. This match was rescheduled from Monday due to impending rain.

Eastern Alamance had four of the top five players in the Mid-State Conference standings. The Eagles finished with a 291, shooting three-over-par on the day. For the season, Eastern beat second-place Western Alamance by a combined 112 strokes. 

Noah Connor from Rockingham shot five-under-par, medaling on the day. Coming in second, Eastern’s Caden Baker shot a three-under-par, followed by Nick Mathews’s two-under-par. 

The top three teams from the conference will head to regionals, where the Eagles will attempt to quality for the second straight year for the state tournament. 

The Eastern Alamance golf team has a fundraiser tournament this Sunday, April 14 starting at 1:30 p.m. (shotgun start). Get a team of four and submit to JT Kirby, 336-263-4725, or Bobby Jones, 336-516-0819, as soon as possible. The cost is $50 per person at Mill Creek Golf Club. This will help pay for expenses such as hotel fees for the State Championship, gear, and other enumerated causes.
