The Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce invites the community to the Hillsborough Hometown Holidays Festival this year. Slow down the pace of a hectic holiday season and make a few special memories downtown! The Holiday Festival takes place from November 28th through December 21st this year.
Kick off the Hometown Holidays Festival in downtown for Shop Small Saturday on November 28th! Then, write a letter to Santa and drop it off at the Visitors Center on East King Street! Curious to know what Christmas would have been like with the Burwell family? Take a tour of the Burwell School to see holiday and Christmas decorations from the 19th century! Walk around town on the Holiday Wreath Stroll and pay a visit to some of Hillsborough’s great local businesses and homes, decorated for the season. Purchase a kit from the Hillsborough Arts Council’s Gift Shop to make your own solstice lantern for the Solistice Lantern Walk, then come back to town to place it! Purchase a Hillsborough Hometown Holiday gift box, curated packages for sale for the holidays from select businesses, and attractions. The Visitors Center has t-shirts, BBQ maps, and pint glasses in their gift boxes! Festive photo backdrops will be available at the Visitors Center, the Holiday tree, Orange County Historical Museum, and others.

Virtual Open Hearth Cooking: Join a live-stream cooking show where Linda Ostrand will cook a 1690's Portugal Cake! Attendees will receive the recipe and be able to see the recorded show after the live stream as well. The event will go live on December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Cost for the live-stream attendance is $25.
Virtual Holiday Tree Lighting: Attend the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony virtually this year through a live stream as elected officials and partners 'flip the switch' on our Holiday Tree! This event will go live on Sunday, December 6th at 6:00 p.m. The live stream is free.
Holiday Wreath Stroll Weekend: Go on the self-guided tour and see all the decorated wreaths in town while soaking in the historic architecture and holiday spirit! A map of locations will be available soon and released to the public. This event is open through the Festival but will be highlighted on December 11th through 13th. Attendance is free.
Lantern Walk Weekend: Lantern walkers from years gone by are invited to display their lanterns in local business windows or in nearby homes for passersby to enjoy! Lantern kits will be available through the Hillsborough Art's Council. This walk will be highlighted December 18th through 20th
2020 Virtual Holiday Parade: Don't forget o send in your video submission for the Virtual Holiday Parade! The parade will be available for live stream on December 6th starting at 4:00 p.m.We invite the community to explore Hillsborough and its many wonders as you come “home” for the holidays.
