Brenda Loy Wilson from Graham won third place in the North Carolina Senior Games Silver Arts Literary competition in the Life Experience category. She qualified for the fall Senior Games State Finals with a first-place win, Hurricane Hazel, in the Alamance Burlington Senior Games in May. SilverArts is comprised of statewide heritage, visual, literary, and performing arts.
North Carolina Senior Games is a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to providing year-round health promotion and education for adults 50 years of age and better and is sponsored by the North Carolina Division of Aging and Adult Services.
Wilson is a long-time member of the Burlington Writers Club, the North Carolina Writers Network, Story Sisters, and sistaWrite. She was chosen as a finalist in the 2019 Next Generation Indie Book Awards for Suzanne Stories, a collection of short stories based on experiences growing up in Alamance County. Other publications include a collection of poetry Transitions and Mama Moves to Ossipee, which chronicles family life from the 1930s – 1960s. Currently, she is completing Back Porch Poems and her autobiography, Double Exposure.
