On Monday, May 2, the Alamance-Burlington Board of Education approved Dr. Dain Butler as the next superintendent for Alamance-Burlington Schools (ABSS).

“It is exciting to welcome Dr. Butler back to Alamance County,” commented Board Chair Sandy Ellington-Graves. “With his years of experience – 17 of those years with ABSS – we are confident his leadership will move our district forward.”

Patsy Simpson, Vice Chair, agreed. “The board is very appreciative of the staff and community feedback to the board. We feel the selection of Dr. Butler is in line with what the community asked for and we are extremely pleased to welcome him back to ABSS.”

Dr. Butler shared his excitement at returning home to lead ABSS: “I am sincerely appreciative of this once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to lead Alamance-Burlington Schools as superintendent. This is my home. Our most important role as a school district is to grow Alamance County’s next generation of well-prepared leaders and engaged citizens. I look forward to working with our higher education partners, our Alamance Chamber and its member businesses, and with our entire community in preparing our children for future success. I look forward to working with our entire professional team in ABSS to advance our district goals and priorities to ensure every child can achieve his or her personal best.”
