Two High Point men charged in connection with death of Alamance County man

Carlos Demetrius Robert Rogers (left) and Isaac Jermaine Weathersby IV (right), a pair of 19-year-old males from High Point, have been charged in relation to the recent death of William Gene Williams III, a resident of Burlington, in what is the first murder case of 2021 in Alamance County. Weathersby has been charged with one count of first degree murder, along with one count of felony robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of felony larceny of a firearm. Rogers has been charged with one count of felony conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon, as well as an additional count of felony accessory after the fact of felony first degree murder. Both men were taken into custody and transferred to the Alamance County Sheriff's Office.

The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is investigation its first homicide of 2021. At 12:19 a.m. Monday January 4, 2021, Deputies responded to a residence at 2233 Durham St. Ext. just outside of the Burlington, N.C. city limit.

On arrival, the victim was found in the residence while CPR was being administered by another resident. EMS arrived on scene to administer care. The victim did not survive from the wounds.

The victim was identified as William Gene Williams III of the address.

Witnesses identified three black male suspects, including the shooter, who drove off in a blue Nissan Altima. The vehicle was spotted on University Dr. in Elon, N.C. by Elon Police who attempted to stop the Altima. The driver refused to stop and turned on to I-40 west. Elon Police continued to keep the suspect vehicle in sight. The vehicle was stopped in Greensboro by the Greensboro Police Department. 

Three suspects were taken into custody and transferred to the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office. 

As the investigation continued, Alamance Sheriff’s Office Detectives charged the following individuals, all from High Point, N.C.
