Fire results in arrest, arson charges for local suspect

On Saturday September 26 at 12:30 a.m., the Alamance County Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire at 3333 Maple Ave. Burlington, N.C. south of the Burlington city limit. The fire caused massive property damage and resulted in the death of three domestic animals, two dogs and one cat.  While speaking with the homeowner and witnesses, Deputies determined the fire was of a suspicious nature. During the ongoing investigation, Mr. Brandon Eugene Cagle was named as a primary suspect. On Thursday October 1, charges were filed against Mr. Cagle. On Tuesday October 6, Mr. Cagle surrendered himself to Deputies at the Alamance County Detention Center.
