Out-of-state traveler charged with meth possession by Alamance Sheriff's

On Sunday afternoon, September 20, at 12:14 p.m., Alamance County Sheriff’s Deputies received reports of a vehicle traveling northbound on N.C. 87 near Graham, N.C. The vehicle was observed by a Deputy traveling southbound on N.C. 87. The vehicle turned on to Swepsonville Rd and was stopped near Walter Andrews Rd. Deputies identified the driver as Thomas Scott Mitchell of Danville, Virginia. A K-9 on scene alerted to the presence of contraband. Mr. Mitchel was found to have methamphetamine and a concealed firearm on his person. Drug paraphernalia along with additional methamphetamine was also located in the vehicle. Mr. Mitchell was arrested and transported to the Alamance County Detention Center.
