John Barnhart, 53, was arrested at his home on Wednesday night, July 7, by the Mebane Police Department and charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a child.
Assistant Chief Thomas Byrd confirmed to the Mebane Enterprise on Thursday that the Mebane PD served a warrant for Barnhart’s arrest the night before. The suspect was taken into custody, then transported to Alamance Detention Center.
Barnhart, a former real estate agent in Mebane, was given a $25,000 secure bond and is set to appear in court sometime today, July 8, Byrd said.
This is the third time Barnhart has been accused of and arrested for sexual misconduct.
Barnhart was arrested in November 2018 and charged with three counts of misdemeanor assault on a female and two counts of misdemeanor sexual battery. Barnhart was again arrest in January 2019 for an additional count of misdemeanor assault on a female.
Barnhart is set to appear in court again on July 29.
