On Tuesday, June 7, Eastern Alamance High senior women’s basketball standout Amiyah Evans held a signing ceremony in the EAHS auditorium to celebrate her official signing to play basketball at Louisburg College. Evans was joined by her friends, teammates, and multiple family members as she officially joined the Hurricanes for the 2022-23 season.

Evans played four years on the varsity basketball team at Eastern High under the guidance of head coach Tim Krotish. After averaging 5.1 points and 3 rebounds per game as a freshman in 2019-20, helping the Eagles go 17-11 overall and reach the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs, Evans helped lead the Eagles to back-to-back Mid-State Conference titles in 2019-20 and 2021-22, her sophomore and junior seasons, along with appearances in the third round of the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs. Eastern went undefeated in the COVID-shortened 2020-21 regular season.

As a senior, Evans helped lead the Eagles to a 20-7 overall record, and a run to the second round of the NCHSAA 3A state playoffs. Over her four seasons, Evans helped the Eagles go a combined 74-24 on the hardwood, while achieving an overall record of 41-10 in conference games.

A reliable outside shooter and solid passer throughout her time in high school, Evans was a consistent all-around performer with the Eagles. She averaged 8.1 points, 2.1 assists, and 5 rebounds per game her sophomore season, 8.2 points 3.4 assists, and 5.4 rebounds per contest as a junior, and 8.3 points, 3.2 assists, and 4.6 rebounds a game her senior season. She was also an aggressive defender for the Eagles, averaging 2.8 steals per game as a sophomore, and over three steals per contest as a junior and senior.

Evans was a three-time All-Conference selection for the Eagles, as she was named All-Mid-State Conference in 2019-20 and 2020-21, and All-Central Conference in 2021-22. She has also been a solid student in the classroom and a positive role model to her classmates and peers.

“Amiyah has been a fantastic student athlete during her four years at EA,” read a statement on the Eastern Alamance High School Facebook page. “We are proud of her and excited to see her play at the next level. Congrats Amiyah!”

Evans will have an opportunity to make an immediate impact next season on a Louisburg College women’s basketball team that went 10-16 with a 6-14 conference record this past season. With her ability to fill the stat sheet in several ways, along with her background playing on a winning high school program, Evans is a solid addition to the basketball program at Louisburg.
